Abstract

The article deals with the identification of four types of functional and pragmatic nominative sentences in the English, French and Ukrainian languages: representatives, directives, expressives and interrogatives. In the speech the nominative sentences have been established to be performed with cognitive, communicative, conscious forming, representative, expressive, regulatory, informative, phatic and suggestive functions. The comparative analysis of nominative sentences has been conducted with the attention to a pragmatic view of their load in the structure of the speech act.
