Abstract

The article considers chess debut nominations through its continuous selection of collected Ukrainian-language publications, in particular the first textbooks and periodical literature on the chess game of the twentieth century. One of the branches of the structural and compositional organization, the micro-field “debuts” and its structure have been represented in detail as well. A relative classification of chess debut terms, their hierarchical structure, compositional branching (open, closed and semi-open debuts) have been given. I paid high attention to the structural types of debuts, the semantic differentiation of debut nominations. The classification varies concerning the peculiarities of chess debuts usage in practice. It has also been analysed the Ukrainian chess terms in a context of their attribute to chess players’ names, geographical position or match venue, animal-compound component, actualized figure, figure’s place at the chessboard, national determination and religion, etc.
